I spied the original Urban Decay Naked eyeshadow pallette a while ago and thought, "What a perfect idea!". It was hugely popular and very hard to get, from what I heard. (But looks like it's easier to find these days...)

A much anticipated follow-up, with the same concept, but different colors, Urban Decay Naked 2 is now available from Sephora.

If it weren't the fact that I'm pretty much swimming in eyeshadows, I would totally snap it up. Love it!

TIME FOR A CHANGE

Recently, I discovered another one of my beauty products has been discontinued. Well, one color - Mineral Grey - has been discontinued from L'Oreal's Lineur Intense Felt Tip Liquid Eyeliner.

Big bummer for me. I had already proclaimed my love for this product on this blog. It's my drugstore version of Lancome's Artliner. And while the L'Oreal version is still available in black and brown, it's the grey that I will miss. And I didn't even find out about the discontinuation until it was too late, and I couldn't stock up.

And while I do love the Lancome Artliner, and it comes in many different colors, they are $29 each. Compared with about $8 each for L'Oreal. It's worth mentioning again that the two brands are related and therefore the products are nearly identical, down to the exact same felt-tip applicator that I love.

So, I went on the hunt to find a suitable replacement. And I think I found it in another drugstore find: Almay Intense I-Color Liquid Eyeliner.

I bought a couple of different colors: Raisin Quartz and Black Pearl. The Raisin Quartz is a light plum (I thought it'd be darker, but I still like it). The Black Pearl is a sparkly charcoal grey, which is what I wanted. It's actually more sparkly than my older liquid eyeliner I'm replacing, but it'll still work. The felt tip applicator isn't exactly the same, it's a bit more rigid, but still easy to apply.

So happy I found something that will work for me. Because I really don't want to have to do this again!

Here's the link! I haven't tried them myself personally, as I am swimming in eyeshadows already (not including all the loose BE eyeshadows that I have...), but I have a friend that purchased several colors and she's in love. And she's a huge fan of the loose ones as well!

A while back, I received several Bare Escentuals eyeshadows and eyebrow shadows from my sis-in-law. The loose kind. (One of the minerals didn't work well with her skin.)

And while all the colors are quite beautiful and versatile, the fact that the powder is loose has prevented me from using them very often. Once, maybe. And now they have solid eyeshadows (due to popular demand, perhaps?).

Anyway, doing a quick search has yielded this great tutorial!

After the baby's arrival, lots of things changed in the house. And while initially, our dog Kenai took the change pretty well. It was apparent with this latest pregnancy that he is quite upset about another upheaval in the house (bad behavior and whatnot). It was a tough decision to give him away, but it is necessary and fair for all of us. It wasn't fair for him to not have our full attention, and we felt bad about just fulfilling his basic of needs. But he's in a good home, with my Sister in Law, so it's not as if he's out of the family. We'll still be able to see him every so often and he'll have another dog to play with. Kenai doesn't care for our toddler's style of playing, which sometimes involves fur-pulling.We will miss him, but know that he will be well taken care of in his new home.

I have a small two-drawer filing cabinet that is high on functionality but low on style. It's the typical putty color that wouldn't be so bad if it weren't for the ugly rust scratches upon it. It was in the corner of my office before, but now in out new office space, it's out in the open in all its ugly glory. Recently, I saw a two-drawer filing cabinet on Freecycle - this one being black. Then it got me thinking, I could really use another one and....couldn't they just be painted?

I just picked up this Nivea Kiss of Flavor lip balm in Strawberry and I just love it. For those of you who want a lip balm with a hint of color and SPF, this is for you. I'm sure it doesn't have the staying power of a lipstick, but that's fine with me. And at a most reasonable price (under $3.00), you can splurge and get two. It also comes in Cherry, which I didn't buy because I didn't have a need for another one, but it appears to have more of a berry tint or darker red hue (from the reviews I have read).

I am so buying more of these when I run out of my philosphy Kiss Me balms. Sorry philosophy, I love the Kiss Me lip balms, but I'm on a tight budget lately.

I haven't been on here a whole lot. It's hard to find the time, having a child to take care of and a full-time job. My priority has been getting much needed rest, and well, things have slipped off the radar. I'm at a computer all day at work, so when I get home, it's not what I really feel like doing unless I absolutely have to.

But things will change after I move my office into my dining room.

I know, it's going to be strange. But it's necessary.

Some of you may know, but I'll share again... I'm pregnant! This time, twice the fun - TWINS!

It was a huge surprise. First, I got pregnant really quickly. And when we went in for the ultrasound, we saw two little beings. Talk about life-changing.

So, now we are in the process of moving things around. Little Man will be moving into the office, and my office will be moved into the dining room. We have already given away our small dining table and moved the big dining room table in to the breakfast nook. This week, we're going to buy a desk. And hopefully we'll be getting it all situated soon.

It's been busy. And this is just the beginning.

I heart turtles, especially sea turtles. And when I saw this Chantecaille Sea Turtle Palette in one of the recent Nordstrom look books, I fell in love. I'm not exactly in the market for more eyeshadows and $78 is pretty steep for me, but it is worth sharing because proceeds go to a worthy cause.

I totally forgot to mention another birthday perk! I forgot because Red Robin no longer emails the free birthday burger, but have replaced the whole program with their Red Royalty Reward Card.

I picked up the Red Royalty card a while back, but hadn't registered it online. Because once you register, you get a free appetizer. So I was saving it until I planned to visit. I was planning on going today for lunch, so I finally registered it. You're asked for some basic information including your birthday.

Lo and behold, I saw that I had a free burger for my birthday. Good thing I registered, because my birthday month is almost over. I have to thank my co-worker who had a hankering for their Banzai burger, which is their best burger, in my opinion.

In addition, to the free appetizer upon sign-up and free burger during your birthday month, you get a free burger after you buy 9! Since we live so close to one and it's a great place to eat when you have kids or to pick-up on the way home, we might end up getting a free burger pretty quick.

I recently celebrated my 32nd birthday! I haven't made a big deal about it, because frankly, after you turn 30, it's not that big of a deal. Now the birthdays that end in zero are the big ones worth making a to-do about. But I digress....

The best part about birthdays are all the great freebies and coupons you get from retailers and restaurants. And also a great reason to shop - for me, I had a bunch of gift cards that I just had to use.

I got a much needed new bra from Victoria's Secret - with a $10 off birthday coupon. I ended up getting their Biofit bra, it just fit me the best. Not exactly sexy, but it does the job well and stays smooth under my shirts.

From Macy's, I got a couple of Philosophy Be Somebody hot salt scrubs in Green Tea and Water Lily. In this case, I had gift cards to use! And if you receive Macy's emails, you get a code for free shipping for your birthday as well.

Free Birthday pastry from Panera Bread. I signed up for their My Panera Card a while back (it's free!), and you get a free pastry just for registering your email address. Each time you go, they swipe the card and at random, you get a reward, it can be awarded at the beginning of the transaction or at the end (after you've paid). I had received a free espresso or smoothie from a previous visit, and they loaded the pastry on for my birthday, so I got breakfast for free!

March is loaded with birthday amongst my friends, so we all went to Purple Cafe & Wine Bar to celebrate with a lunch. Right now they're a part of Dine Around Seattle, so they have a great special going on. (Next month they're participating in Seattle Restaurant Week as well!) I joined their mailing list and got a free appetizer for doing so, and a free dessert for my birthday! I didn't use those on my visit (since I already was getting a discounted 3 course meal), but I did go back later with my sis on a rare spa day we had together. Their baked brie is most excellent!

The New Year's Resolution is still in effect. The before-mentioned spa day? Thanks to Groupon, I went to Herban Therapies for a hot stone mud body renewal. I added the foot facial for some extra pampering. Then I used another Groupon to pick up some cupcakes from Confetti Cupcakes for my family birthday dinner. They were delish!

Oh, and finally my big birthday gift from Hubby. I got a new phone - the HTC Evo Shift.

After getting him the Samsung Epic, I was instantly jealous. My Blackberry just wasn't as awesome as his phone. But I didn't want to get the exact same thing. Luckily, HTC came out with an Evo with a slide-out keyboard. So far, it's so much nicer than my old Berry. But I have to admit, the Berry was way better than my phone before that. Finally I have more apps, wi-fi, and Angry Birds! And the touchscreen is so nice. Yes, I'd probably LOVE the iPhone, but Sprint doesn't carry it and we're not switching providers anytime soon. At least 2 years.

So, this year, it has been a great birthday indeed, despite the lack of fanfare.

IN A RARE MOVE ON MY PART

I am an avid reader, but as of late, have not have much time to devote to it. I had been following the Shopaholic series as a nice escape. But this latest iteration, Mini Shopaholic, just rubbed me the wrong way. I guess it's because the Becky Bloomwood character had not grown one bit. Her tactics, which used to be charming a cute when she was a flip twenty-something, are now appalling when she's supposed to be a responsible adult and mother.

In a rare move on my part, I have abandoned this book after about 70 pages. I can see where the story is going and I really just don't care how it ends, because it will be a happy ending where Becky gets bailed out somehow.

The series is not the escape that it used to be for me, I supposed. Unlike Becky, perhaps I have matured as a reader. But don't take my word for it, check out the reviews on Amazon. I had to make sure it wasn't just me, and it's not.

Another freebie, but this time it's money advice in the form an email. DailyWorth sends out an email everyday written from a mainly female perspective. I really enjoy getting the emails. They're quick and easy and if I want to delve deeper for more information, I can.

One notable email I received was about the 2% raise that all Americans received this year. I didn't even know about this payroll tax reduction until I got this email. And I took action! I increased my 401(k) contribution by 2%, and my checks look the same as what I'm used to.

GOALS AND ASPIRATIONS FOR 2011

In 2011, I would like to do the following:

- Use my Groupon, Living Social, FreshGuide, etc. certificates that I have accumulated last year. Yes, I have mentioned it before, but gotta put it on my resolution list for posterity. In one month, I'm off to a good start and used my Groupons for cupcakes and a spa visit (facial at Lemon Drop Skin Care & Spa), and a Living Social certificate for lunch last week at Guyamas Cantina. I have plans to use my other ones.

- Finish my tattoo. I've had my koi for a couple of years now, and if you remember, it's just a simple black line drawing. But now, I'm in a different place and would like to color it in, add some water, and some lotus blossoms. This is more of a money thing, because it could cost a bit and I'm not in a position to spend on needless things. But something for me to think about.

- SAVE SAVE SAVE. We would like to move in a couple of years. And since we don't want to sell the house we're living in currently, we need to come up with a down payment. We have a huge goal of $50,000 in two years. It's a pie in the sky, but at least it's something to strive for.

- In addition, make the maximum contribution on our IRA's, which is $5000 each. We're hoping a nice tax refund will assist with this.

- More brown bag lunches. Basically, eat less at the restaurants that my company owns. Restaurant food isn't the most healthy, and frankly, I'm a lil tired of the menu.

- No more Coach bags. Hubby was nice enough to buy one for me for Christmas, which I love love love. It's the Maggie Mia in Cranberry, which I mentioned in this post. But, as far as purses are concerned, I really should mix up the brands. I'm thinking Burberry will be my next one. I know, it's awful to want more, but I guess I can't help myself. More about this later, though.

I know, I'm a little late in this review of my 2010 resolutions. But better late than never, as they say....

Here's what I originally wrote: 2010 To Do List

Here's how I did:
- Eat more Fish & Fruits & Veggies: I think I did a pretty good job of this. A good motivation is getting our young son into good habits, and feeding him fish and fruits and vegetables early is key. We are now at the point where he eats what we eat, so if we want to feed him healthy foods, we need to have them ourselves. Last Summer, we did a quarter-share in a local CSA - Tahoma Farms. And for 2011, we started a bi-weekly organic veggie & fruit delivery from Terra Organics. When these healthy things are in your house, you tend to eat them.

- Make more dishes in the Crock Pot. Yeah, didn't do so well with this. I used it every once in a while, but it wasn't a habit. I didn't really do a ton of cooking. Being a full-time mom has a way of sucking all your time and energy. Something to work on in 2011! Funnily enough, I am planning on making a Corned Beef Brisket tomorrow in the Crock Pot.

- Save $3000 to open College Savings Fund. This has been accomplished. We are invested in the Vanguard 529 College Savings Plan. It's linked to our Upromise account, so any Upromise earning go directly into the fund.

- Open 529 Plan - Also done. We are buying 200 units through Washington States GET Program. This is guaranteed to pay for two year's worth of tuition at Washington State's most expensive public university (currently it's University of Washington). But the units can also pay for other qualified expenses, such as books and room & board.

- Stay active. Um...yeah...not so much. However...I do run around a small child that can walk, climb, and pretty much get into everything. So, it's been pretty hectic and keeping me on my feet. On the plus side, I am 15 pounds under my pre-pregnancy weight, so it's motivation to keep it up.

Overall, I think I did pretty well!

DROOL-WORTHY

Just saw this fab graphic in a Daily Worth email and I had to investigate. It's the KEEP CALM AND EAT A CUPCAKE Print by KeepCalmShop (on Etsy).

They have others as well along the same lines, "Keep Calm and...", but I do like the cupcake one.

Speaking of cupcakes, I used one of my Groupons over the weekend at Trophy Cupcakes and got a dozen cupcakes. You'd think I would use this Groupon right away, but alas, I've had it since LAST MAY! It was really hard to find a time where a dozen cupcakes would be appropriate. There are only two adults in the house, and these gourmet cupcakes need to be eaten right away. Also, the bakery isn't exactly close to where I live, so it required a little more planning. Well, we had to go to Bellevue for a family dinner, and one of the locations is at The Bravern, this swank upscale mall that opened a year or so ago. And we were invited to a football viewing party and thought the cupcakes would be a great thing to bring. And so it was.

It was really hard, but I decided to get 6 flavors: Salted Caramel Chocolate, Chocolate Hazelnut, Lemon, Vanilla Vanilla, Red Velvet, and Triple Coconut. They were so cute...and delicious.

I think I saw this in the back of a magazine, and it really grabbed my attention. The Card Cubby is the solution for all those gift cards, loyalty cards, extra credit cards, etc. that is filling up my bag and wallet. I keep a separate case for the cards that don't fit in my wallet, but it's getting full in there, and also, not so great to look at.

But the Card Cubby keeps the cards organized, has a inside zippered compartment, a clear card slot on the back, and are chic to book. Comes in all sorts of colors and materials and appears to be quite durable. I'm particularly fond of the croc and animal print ones. I think the brightly colored ones are the way to go, so that they can be found easily in a purse or bag.

They even have a Coupon Cubby for keeping coupons organized (puts my current paper envelope system to shame...)

On their website, they sell for $19.99 for the standard Cubbies, $22.99 for leather, and $24.95 for the Coupon Cubbies. And they are coming out with new colors!

One of my New Years Resolutions this year is to use my Groupons. I have amassed a small collection over the year last year. I have used some of them, but there are a few that I need to be using this year, as they will expire. Namely, I have a few for spas! Now that is a resolution that I think I'll be able to stick to. I even have set up some appointments for the next couple of months - getting a facial with my sis-in-law in a couple of weeks, and getting a bikini wax before Valentines Day (ooh la la!).

Groupons that I need to use include: 3 spas, one cupcake bakery, one cheesecake bakery, a fish market, a sushi place for lunch, a restaurant, and a photography package. It's going to be a busy year! And that doesn't include any new ones that catch my fancy. My resolution doesn't prevent me from buying a new ones...

You all also know I love their hope in a jar moisturizer.

I have complained before about the jar. I just don't like 'em. Would rather have the moisturizer come in a tube.

I also would love to have a tinted version of the moisturizer for when I don't want to put on the the full regalia of makeup.

And, I'd like to de-clutter my bathroom cabinet and not have to put on a separate sunblock for my face.

Recently, I finished reading Tim Gunn's book, Tim Gunn: A Guide to Quality, Taste, and Style.

It's a fabulous read and has a lot of great advice.

Currently, I'm following it up with his newest book, Gunn's Golden Rules: Life's Little Lessons for Making It Work.

I just started reading it, I believe I'm only on Chapter 3 or 4, but already I'm just in love with Tim Gunn. He tells it like it is without being mean or cruel. He believes in manners and has enough class to spare. Despite that he says Project Runway would still go on if he wasn't there, it would not be the same, and the viewership would not be happy.

Both recommended reads.

p.s. Did I ever mention that there's a guy on my train that looks like Tim Gunn. Every time I see him, he reminds me of him....but a more Eddie Bauer version of Tim Gunn.

Perusing the Banana Republic web site (I *still* have $40 in gift certificates to spend there), I came across this lovely ring, called their Champagne Ring. I think it warrants an in-store inspection.

Not to be outdone, this gorgeous ring in glittering gold also caught my eye, called the Shimmering Laurel Ring. I am wary, however, of the gold plating rubbing off, as BR gold rings tend to do (sadly).

I came across these rings because I was putting together my wish list for Hubby. And for all things jewelry, I look at Tiffany's. And for my wish list, I chose this stunning Vine Ring. I will not likely receive it, since it pretty much costs as much as several house payments. But, it's a wish list, afterall.

The other day I got a promotional mailer from Coach. Hubby saw it first since he usually picks up the mail. On the outside, it said, "Our gift to you". I opened it, and inside there was a coupon for $100 off a $300+ purchase at a Coach Boutique Store. This is a pretty significant discount.

I told Hubby what it was and he was like, where isn't there a Coach bag you wanted. I answered that there's ALWAYS a Coach bag that I want. The one he was referring to, however, was an older Madison style (Sabrina) from 2 years ago. But he was like, seriously, you've been bugging me so get one if you want one.

Last weekend, on a rare shopping outing with the little guy and a friend, I perused the selection at the Coach Store.

After seeing lots of things I liked, I got it narrowed down to these.

I really love the red color and the shape. It's also got compartments, so it'll make it easier to stay organized. I'm leaning towards this one because looking at my handbag inventory, I have a lot of black. The color really does bring a smile to my face, though I worry that the patent leather will not be a classic look.

I think I found my new favorite watch. It's perfect!

It's gold-tone. It looks like jewelry. It has marks on the dial for every hour. It doesn't have a date-stamp (so hard to keep current!). LOVE!

And since it's by Fossil, it's affordable and durable. I wonder what the storage tin looks like...

I also really like their Stella Mini Faux Tortoise watch as well, even though it has a date-stamp.

I was noticing that my Blogrolling links weren't showing up on my blog. I double and triple-checked the Blogrolling code, but the links weren't showing up.

So I checked out Blogrolling's status site and saw that they were, indeed, having issues and were most likely going to stop the service. (As I think to myself, thanks for letting me know! I mean, they have my email address and I got nothing from them. It's the least they can do. But it's a free service after all....)

Anyways, a check on their status site today reveals that they will be ceasing operation of Blogrolling on November 1st, 2010.

If you're using Blogrolling, it's time to find a new way to list your links. Or at the very least, write down your links so that you don't lose them.

Here's what I did:

I copied and pasted my blogroll, link by link, into a Word document. (Though you could use Notepad or even draft a blog post)
Then I used a Blogger Widget to show a Bloglist of Blogs I Follow with my Google account.

THE DARK SIDE

I'm trying to get more into dark chocolate. So when I saw Reese's Peanut Butter Cups in dark chocolate, I had to check it out. It also helped that I had a coupon for a free one. Unfortunately, Hubby loves Reese's PB Cups more that I do, and managed to eat it (without sharing, I might add) before I noticed.

So, I managed to buy TWO this time and finally try them.

OMG, they're awesome.

There's just something about the peanut butter they put in these cups, but it puts them above all those other chocolate/peanut butter candy bars. They should put their peanut butter in jars and sell it.

Where the milk chocolate in the regular PB cups can be a tad sweet, coupled with sweet peanut butter, the dark chocolate tames the sweetness and adds a slight bitterness that makes it even more perfect.

Good thing for my waistline that there are only 2 cups in package. It would be hard to stop, but I did manage to eat one cup over two days as a nice afternoon treat.

I am a coat fanatic. The best part about not being pregnant this year is being able to wear my old coats again (even though I did buy a maternity peacoat which was very cute). But if I were able to buy just one coat, the iconic Burberry trench coat would be it. A short one, like this. I just love the classic shape and details, but with that great nova-check lining.

DOCTOR'S ORDERS

I just had my annual physical and here are some highlights of the visit that are noteworthy:

Immunizations. This year's Flu Shot has the H1N1 immunization in it as well. Only one shot needed. Joy!

Vitamin D. As previously mentioned, more research is showing that Vitamin D is really important. Out of all the patients that my doc tests for Vitamin D levels, he's had only 6 people with normal levels. Hubby was tested during his last physical and was found to be deficient, quite with the majority. My blood work is getting done as well, and I'm sure I'll find out the results soon. But at any rate: Take 1000 to 2000 IU of Vitamin D EVERY DAY. Easy as pie. The Kirkland Signature brand at Costco has a D supplement that is 2000 IU. Of course, I am not a doctor and you should speak with your own physician first for personalized advice.

Cipro. If traveling, it's a good idea to take a small supply of Cipro - an antibiotic. This is one that can clear up anything a traveler might pick up from stomach bugs to nasal things. The generic is now available pretty cheap from the large retail pharmacies. As with all prescriptions, you need to see a doc first.

Chemicals All Around Us. Check out Safecosmetics.org to see what's really in your everyday products. Even though the name says cosmetics, they have information in everyday non-gendered items such as toothpaste and sunscreens. My Doc is concerned about the some chemicals that simulate estrogen (or something like that) which is linked to increases in breast cancers. So, if you can limit the number of chemicals in your life, the better.

Eye Exams. Visit the eye doctor regularly, even if you don't wear/need glasses. An eye doctor can see health problems before you complain of any symptoms to your regular doc. Problems such as diabetes and heart disease. Which reminds me, I need to make an appointment with my eye doc right quick!

Fish Oil. Take a fish oil capsule everyday. This is a great source of those Omega-3 fatty acids which will help lower cholesterol levels and overall improve heart health. Mayo Clinic has some great info about Omega-3 fatty acids. Of course, there are other sources of this which you can consider if fish is not your thing, such as flax seed oil and krill oil. I do recommend taking this at night, however, because you may end up burping up the oil during the day, aka "fish burps".

Finding the right fragrance is a task I enjoy, although it can be hard. So when samples come my way, I'm always happy to sniff them out.

Recently, I received two deluxe samples of perfumes that I am very much enjoying.

First, is Ed Hardy Women.

I know, it surprised me as well. I'm not the biggest Ed Hardy fan, though I can appreciate tattoo-culture, this brand has seemed to have lost its authenticity. Perhaps, it can be blamed on Jon. Back to the perfume at hand, I love the bottle design and it adds fun and color to my dresser. Funnily enough, all my current perfume bottles are in the pink/red/violet family. As for the scent itself, it's sweet, but not syrupy, fruity, floral, and woodsy. It's a great transition perfume to wear now that the leaves are turning and Fall is arriving.

The other one is Versace Bright Crystal.

This one is more romantic and floral. This light and crisp scent is great for daytime, though it can certainly be worn in the evening as well. It's also pink-hued as well, and you gotta love that "crystal" stopper on top. So cute!

VITAMINS - REVISITED

I have previously blogged about Viactiv Calcium Chews. Well, despite having the tub in my desk at work, I wasn't very good at taking them. I know...shame on me. Not to say that I'm not taking vitamins. On the contrary!
I take a multi-vitamin every night, along with acidophilus and fish oil. Taking the fish oil at night prevents "fish burps". In the morning, I take 2000 mg of Vitamin D. I take a calcium supplement (Calcium Citrate is better, according to my Doc) in the morning as well, but only with food, because it upsets my tummy if I take on an empty stomach. And sometimes I don't remember to do that.

Which is where the Viactiv comes in. I think I wasn't very good at taking them before because the chocolate flavor was not that great, despite me trying to convince myself. So, I decided to try a different flavor, because really, chocolate isn't right unless it's the real thing.

So now I have Caramel sitting ON TOP of my desk. Let me tell you...MILES better than the chocolate flavor. It tastes more caramel-ly and has a nice soft texture. Slight aftertaste, but not bothersome. My tub is one of the newly produced ones with a label that says "New and improved taste!" with the pink lid. It really is hard to resist, because it's like candy.

I'm loving these sites that load electronic coupons right onto your grocery store loyalty card. It saves time and money, and sometimes you can use both a paper AND an electronic coupon together. In addition, sometimes you can use electronic coupons from multiple sites on the same product!

Check them out! They do require, however, some sharing of personal information, such as your name, address, and loyalty card numbers.

Coupons.com - In addition to printable coupons, click on the "Savings Card" tab on the left sidebar to see which coupons you can link to your grocery store loyalty cards. They email you when new coupons are available.

Upromise - They're already linked to your loyalty cards for specific products, but every month they have a new batch of electronic coupons that you can add.

Shortcuts.com - Run by AOL, this site has both printable and electronic coupons.

Safeway.com - One of my loyalty cards is from Safeway. On their website, go to "Coupon Link" and you can load electronic coupons to your card and print some out (ironically, powered by Coupons.com).

Cotton animal print cardi from Banana Republic

I'm loving all the Fall fashions that I have been seeing. Animal prints. Jewel tones. Suede. Tall boots! It's hard to think about it when it's 90* outside! But, a girl's gotta plan. And this one is on a budget from now on. Seriously. Hubby and I have set a lofty goal - we'd like to move in a couple of years and to make that happen we need to save up some cash. We have a start but we need to be focused to reach our goal. So, it'll be window shopping for the time being. Good thing, however, is that a lot of these trends aren't really all that new. I have pieces that will work really well. Just a matter of re-styling. So, I think I'll be ready for Fall when it gets here (but not too soon).

And I realized that I have $30 in gift cards for Banana Republic, in addition to the $100 I have for Macy's. Though hopefully today, I'll spend it on a new swimsuit. Parent & Me swim classes begin at the end of the month, and this Mommy needs a new suit (or 2). As a matter of fact, so does Daddy!

In addition to being in the restaurant business, we also own a retail gift shop. The buyer has introduced me to some really great products and knows my interest in jewelry, in particular.

One company she told me about is called Classic Hardware. Unfortunately, their website doesn't do itself justice. There are more pieces they sell that aren't even on their own website. I am in love with their Retrolite jewelry and even bought myself a piece.

Another awesome company with a great jewelry concept - both fashion-wise and business-wise - is Magnabilities. They are customizable pieces of jewelry using magnets! First you start with the pendant, which you place on a necklace chain or cord (or even neckwire!). Then, you buy the insert which sticks to the pendant by it's magnet. Change the insert whenever your heart desires. And best of all, affordable! Yet another company also makes inserts for the pendants as well, called Itty Bitty Buttons. I don't have this necklace, but I think soon I will. Like today. Bonus: The inserts you're not using can be used like, well, magnets and can be stored as such.

I got an email from Coach about their Fall collection. And of course I love everything Fall (though am thoroughly enjoying Summer and hoping it sticks around a bit longer...)

What really caught my eye was their Ocelot-print bags. And I love well-placed animal prints.

While I'm not in the market to buy another handbag, it's still fun to look.

I may actually end up getting the Ocelot Mini Skinny. That is one thing that I actually could use to hold my newly needed ORCA Card. The card doesn't actually have to be swiped, it just needs to be held up to the card readers... So it can be in a case, which I want so that I do not lose it. And this would be perfect for that purpose. Even better, I actually have gift cards to use at Macy's!

One last shoe splurge - these Cole Haan beauties "Carma Air Tantivy" - arrived on my doorstep earlier this week. I had originally had my eye on their other peep toe, but these went on sale for Anniversary and they have a great buckle detail, which I have a thing for, as you might already know.

I was uber-excited. Until I tried them on. They were tight! Too small! Noooo!

Fortunately, I was able to get to Nordy's and snag their last pair in size 9. And boy what a difference. They're soooo comfy with the Nike Air technology. I can't wait to wear these somewhere. Perhaps on a date with Hubby?

You may be wondering about this particular shoe splurge. I mean almost $200 for a pair of shoes, despite being discounted, is a lot of money. Well, I did some soul-searching (or perhaps "sole-searching" - ha!) and came to a realization. Of all the shoes that I own, some of my favorites and most often worn pairs, are ones that I spent the most on. For example: my red Ecco flats, my black J.Crew tall boots, my brown Dansko shoes. The one thing they all have in common is that they're all quality and, in hindsight, worth every penny. I can't wait until this Fall so that I can wear the tall boot again, which I tried on recently and they're loose in the calf (squeeee!). Perhaps I can rock the legging look with them now that there's a little room. So, my new shoe mantra is to buy quality and spend a little more because it will be worth it.

Another shoe errand I had to conduct was getting my shoes stretched. A long put-off project, but admittedly, there aren't a whole lot of shoe repair places in my neighborhood. The one I used to go to closed - presumably the owner retired, but I drove by today and lo and behold, they are open again with new ownership. They even remodeled, which was much needed.

My feets did change after my pregnancy, a little bit wider but not longer. So several pair of my dress shoes need to be stretched a little wider. Thank goodness I insist on buying genuine leather shoes. When they are done, it's like getting all these new shoes again. Very exciting indeed.

STILL ALIVE

Hey ya'll, I'm still here. I know I've been absent, and I know I've said this before, but it's this strange period of parenting where I really don't have much time to sit on the computer. Work is super busy (which is good!), but is eating up my free time that I used to spend tinkering on my blog and catching up on my blog reading. I feel a little out of the loop, and I understand if you're not visiting anymore. It's like real life. Baby is so time consuming, and we now have a curfew of 7 PM!! Every night!!!!

In the meantime, I did get some fab shopping in during Nordy's Anniversary Sale - online, of course. And while the Calvin Klein cheetah flats didn't work out so well (too much toe cleavage), the Franco Sarto snakeskin flats are going to work out superbly this fall.

Hubby got 4 new shirts - Burma Bibas Aerocool Polo - the same one in different colors. I had originally given him one in Oatmeal for Father's Day. He loved it so much, he wanted more. But then they went off the website. So I live chatted with a Nordy customer service agent, who told me they were going on sale for Anniversary. Awesome! Best part of all, these shirts are super soft and they don't need ironing. And they look good. Note, pic below of not Hubby.

And I got my yearly big bottle of philosophy cleanser and the big Clarisonic set that they had on special. I know I was looking at the Mia earlier, but I could really use the body brush attachment and it seemed like a better value. I'd provide a link to the big value set, but it appears to be sold out!

Well, I must run. Have more little things to do before the baby wakes up. I'm really pushing my luck right now.

The Girl who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson
The final book in the Millennium Trilogy I'm SO excited to see the ending of this fantastic series. Stieg Larsson had unfortunately passed after finishing, but I heard that there are other books that he completed, but they're caught up in legal battle between the family and his girlfriend. Lisbeth Salander kicks so much ass, I'm afraid of her but want to hug her at the same time.

I've got swimming in my plans this Summer. There's a "Parents & Baby" swim class at my local pool. I'm hoping that we can all get in this Summer. Little Z misses the age cutoff by two days, but hoping they will make an exception. I'd love to get him in the water sooner than later.

Not only do I need baby size swim trunks, but I also need a swimsuit for myself. Plus, we're planning an yet another Mexico vacation this Winter, and I'd love to add one more suit to my collection.

I don't have a whole lot of free time lately, but I do have some break time at work built in - in the form of pumping sessions. But at least I can do it at my computer.

I usually putter around on Facebook. But if I'm all caught up, I'll do online surveys.

I've been a member of some survey companies already:

And I have earned a little but of pocket money and rewards (E-Rewards doesn't pay out cash, but I have used my online currency to buy gift cards and airline miles. Their selection of awards is quite limited.)

I remembered that there was another online panel that I wanted to get into, that I heard was legit: Pinecone Research. You need to access special invitation links in order to join (though right now, they have one posted on their own website). And when I went to look for them, I stumbled across a great resource: My Survey 123.

My Survey 123 is actually a personal website of someone that does surveys. And lots of them. They have information on all sorts of survey companies, including reviews on some of them. Very handy is a section on companies to avoid. And, the site has a special invitation link to Pinecone.

I joined a couple more online panels: My Survey and Quick Rewards Network.

My Survey had a handful of surveys for me. I accumulated some points but not enough to do anything...yet.

BIKINI BEACH BOD AHEAD?

Only in my dreams. I'm long from a bikini body. But there are a couple of products that have caught my eye recently, by the lovely people at Bliss Spa. They aren't new, but they are new to me and I really want to check them out. Swimsuits are in my future and I really cannot get away from showing off my legs.

Bliss FatGirlSlim Skin Firming Cream It's supposed to make the cellulite disappear, or actually *appear* to diminish. Reading the reviews, however, makes me think that this actually does something.

There's also a nighttime version Bliss FatGirlSleep which has a different formula and lavender oil for a calming effect.

Some of the reviewers on Sephora also mentioned Bliss Love Handler

This works more on the abdominal area, though some reviewers use on the arms to reduce "arm waddle". This product is particularly interesting to me since my C-section has left my belly a little weird. It has healed up great, but I still have numbness and a pronounced pooch. As much as I wanted them to, the Doc would not remove the excess flab (darn!). Now, the muscle has been cut and circulation has been diminished - I even have a little bruising on my pooch....still! I'm wondering if this could help in that regard. As for the stretch marks on my belly, they're still there but they are slowly losing their pinkness. I've been using Bio-Oil. Not sure if it's making the difference or just time passing by, but I already bought the stuff - might as well use it.

Anyone have any experience with these products? I've been pretty happy with previous Bliss products that I've used, but I never bought anything like this before. With the exception of Philosophy's Unconditional Love firming lotion, but I never really expected results from it, I just liked how well it moisturized and smelled.

Summer is fast approaching and we're planning another Mexico vacation this Winter. I'm smaller now than before I got pregnant and would love it if these products make me look a little bit better.

Man, am I splurging on myself a bit lately?

Well, I did it again. I was running low on my Bare Escentuals makeup - both the foundation and the mineral veil. And while shopping for these items, I came across their Full Flawless Face Brush

Now, I did purchase a brush set earlier make by Bare Escentuals. But to be honest, the long handled Buki brush was not as plush as I expected, though it still is a very nice brush, and the remaining brushes of the set are great (including the carry case that they came in). Now *this* one is more what I was looking for.

It's got a long handle. The brush is super soft and very plush. It's my favorite to apply my Bare Minerals Foundation. Everything I was looking for in a brush. I'm very tempted to get another to use as a blush brush!

I also picked up the new Mineral Veil with SPF. I got the tinted version, but I think next time, I'll get the non-SPF version. It seems this one goes on a little bit heavier and I can see the color of the tint, which is not the effect I was going for. But, I'll use it until it's gone because it's what I have.

I'll be using the last of my foundation soon. Then I'll get to try out the new matte version. It's just in time, too, because my skin is going back to it's old oily self. I enjoyed fabulously clear and non-oily skin during my pregnancy. I'm very sad to see it get oily again. I will be even more sad if I get breakouts again. Crossing fingers and hoping my skin stays clear. Totally loved this easy skin care routine. le sigh...

BR did it again. They sent me *another* promotion code that was too good to pass up. Remember earlier? I bought a pair of pants when they sent me a 40% off one item promo code?

Well, I received those pants and they're AWESOME! I even purchased two pairs of them at their outlet store (in black). While they are deeply discounted in the store and not labeled the same, they only had them in one color. In stores and on the website, they have more colors available.

The most recent email promo code was 40% off TWO items!

I took the opportunity to buy more of the 323 Martin pants, this time however, I bought them in the short length since the regular length was a tad long to wear with flats. I bought another pair of the silky coal and a pair in brown.

This brings my new pant total to:
1 pair black leggings
2 pair black trousers
2 pair gray trousers
1 pair brown trousers
3 pairs of jeans from pre-pregnancy that fit OK

I would love to get a pair of trouser jeans and some casual pants - those are still missing from my wardrobe. I had three pairs of trouser jeans that I will miss sorely. But I'm glad that the weather is warming up, because I have a bunch of skirts in storage that I will be glad to wear.

During all this, Hubby rolls his eyes as another package is delivered to the door.

Side note: I went on a concerted shopping trip to replenish my pant supply. It was getting ridiculous - I literally only had jeans left and I can't wear those to work everyday. And what do I end up getting? A bunch of clothes for the baby (lured by the Carters outlet), 4 shirts, 2 pairs of pants, stuff for Hubby, and a denim skirt, and two pairs of earrings. I would have bought more if things weren't getting so heavy. That said, Zach is ready for Summer!

I'm such a sucker for newly concocted coffee drinks. And it was on a side of a bus, of all places, where I spied a Tully's Coffee ad featuring their Candy Shop inspired drinks.

They had me at Turtle...

Their other flavors are Neopolitan and Joy of Almond.

Today, I'm enjoying a Turtle mocha and it's delish. Their pastry case is also stocked with some exciting things (which is more than can be said about Starbucks...*ahem*). So, I'm having an almond croissant to go with it. Er, it's gone already, so *had* would be the better word. Anyway...the pastries are from Pinks Original Bakery (a local bakery...formerly called Mostly Muffins).

I think I'll be on a Tully's kick for a while. It's only slightly out of the way, and I'll need to walk those extra steps to burn those extra calories, right?

This is getting quite ridiculous. The whole post-pregnancy weight loss. I was scared before, but now it's turning out to be great.

It's getting to the point where I need pants. Yesterday, I spend much time pulling up my pants. It could have gotten obscene. And I was wearing my "best-fitting" ones. I just need to shop. I have to fit it in somewhere.

But, just in time, Banana Republic sent me an email promotion - 40% off one item. And that's on top of my Luxe card perk - free shipping on every order.

And while my luck with online shopping and clothing is mixed, I'm really hoping this will work out. If not, I can always take it back [when I have time/opportunity].

NEAT LITTLE TIP

I just learned this neat little tip for too loose rings.

The solution is moleskin. Usually reserved for feet and shoes, this inexpensive product has another great use as well.

Cut off a little piece of it and wrap around the underside of the ring, wrapping more for a tighter fit. Replace when needed.

I learned this handy tip from a co-worker who used to work in a jewelry store. I just got my wedding ring back from the shop (to fix a broken prong). I hadn't worn it for a while because of the broken prong - it was discovered shortly after I had it sized up to fit my pregnancy-swollen hands. Little did I realize, however, that my hands would shrink back to their original pre-pregnancy size. I had heard from various sources that the body tends to stay large after pregnancy. This hasn't been my case, which is both a good thing and a bad. Not feeling like going back to the jewelry store to get my ring sized down, I'm going to use this moleskin trick for the time being. Who knows, maybe I'll lose more weight...

I forgot about my birthday coupon from Banana Republic. Don't you love those birthday coupons? I got one for $15 off any purchase. Well, I was still looking for some black leggings and ordered a pair.

They came in last Friday and they turned out great!

I'm a tad shorter than the model in this picture, so the leggings go past my anklebone, which is what I wanted.

They're super soft and really comfortable and fit great. And that $15 off coupon, on top of free shipping, made it a great deal.

It's going to look great with my larger, flowy tops. Remember, having good proportions is really important. I don't have a great body, but with the right top, leggings can be really flattering.

Now on to my next clothing search...Gray Trousers.

I just received my Nordy's April catalog and have fallen in love.

Kate Spade "Ola" Snake Print Sunglasses.

I can't decide which ones I like best. But it's all in fun, because I bought a pair fabulous Kate Spade sunglasses last Summer! I'm leaning towards the black and the purple.

Oh well, not that I should be spending money on things I don't need. Sigh.

But on a happy note, I am wearing my pre-pregnancy jeans for the first time today. I could have worn them earlier (they would fit), but I was worried that they might be uncomfortable against my still healing belly (and still healing, but feels mostly done, more numbness than anything). They're even a little baggy in places they weren't before. Happy joy, indeed!

TIMING IS OFF

Just when I bought new sunscreen* for my face, Philosophy comes out with this.

Hope Oil-Free SPF 30 moisturizer. It's different from Hope in a Jar SPF 20, more SPF and presumably some oil, but most notably, the tube packaging. I heart this packaging. Jar packaging? Not so much, but I put up with it.

It's a little pricey at $45 for 2 oz., but it does eliminate an extra product and an extra step.

On a related note, my skin has been the best it's been. Pregnancy has treated me well and its effects are continuing. I hope it stays this way. I currently am sporting that "healthy glow" and my skin is not oily. It's actually a little on the dry side, but I'm attributing that to being inside most of the time with the drying heat. Now that the weather has warmed slightly, I'm noticing that my skin is not nearly as flaky. So while it's really cool that Philosophy has come out with an oil-free Hope moisturizer with SPF, it might be moot - I might actually need a bit of oil. A problem I've never had before.

*Sunscreens bought: Neutrogena Age Shield Face Sunblock SPF 90+ and Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Daily Sunblock SPF 55. It's replacing my soon-to-run-out Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30. I'm happy with Neutrogena, can you tell? And the Ultra Sheer's working out fine, but I'm interested in testing out new things and would like to see of these new ones I bought feel lighter on the skin.

I know I must be really late to this whole Twilight party. But hey, I did eat at Bella Italia last Summer during our Olympic Peninsula weekend. Mind you, we didn't know it was in Twilight as the scene where Bella and Edward had their first dinner together. And I even had the mushroom ravioli, which is what Bella ordered as well. (In the movie, they were someplace else completely - the real restaurant is in the downtown part of Port Angeles, where in the movie it looks like it's a standalone restaurant).

Anyways...I'm currently reading New Moon. It's taking me a while to get through it, since my reading time has been cut down. I'm only commuting on the train three times a week and I'm catching the train one station closer to Seattle, which is reducing my reading time even more.

But, sad as it is to admit, I'm totally hooked on these books. Yes, it's completely unrealistic and I think Bella's a total idiot and dramatic, but it's still entertaining to read.

I still don't understand what the whole fuss is about. My company owns a souvenir shop in Seattle and we have a bunch of Twilight-related merchandise. And it sells! And fans often ask how long it takes to get to Forks. (From downtown? About 4 to 5 hours. If you take the ferry, it could add or reduce the time, depending on the wait.) Perhaps it's the romantic aspect of it all that young girls can't get enough of. But me? I think Edward's kind of a jerk and if I were Bella, I would have tired of his attitude long ago. I know how the story goes eventually and I think Bella should have stuck with Jacob. So far, I think he's much more lovable.

And on a related note: I ended up buying the first three books paperback since they 1. were cheap and 2. had super long waits at the library. But book 4, Breaking Dawn, doesn't come out in paperback until later this year (unless you want the UK edition). Grrr. So I'll have to wait until August to complete my collection. Perhaps I'll borrow it from someone else to finish reading it, I might not be able to wait that long.

Geeky related note: I spotted a grammatical error in New Moon. Bella's dad mentioned that there was some bear sightings out by crescent lake. It was not capitalized as it should have been. It's actually Lake Crescent and it's quite beautiful, and COLD. Whoever is supposed to proof these things must not be from the area...

In my email box this morning, I got an email from Bath and Body Works about their new scent - Orange Sapphire.

I am a huge fan of citrus scents, but orange has to up there as one of my favorites.

Orange Sapphire is a blend of Blood Orange, Mandarin, White Jasmine, Honey, White Amber. Delish!

Cannot wait to see and smell in person! And lucky for me, there's a location at the new station where I catch the train.

SHOPPING UPDATE

I got my Dooney bag that I ordered and I love it. It's not exactly like the first Dooney bag that I saw on Macy's web site. The one I got is canvas, whereas the original one is nylon. But it's fine, because I just wanted something fabric (and lighter than leather). It's a truly great bag! It's basically one large compartment with a zip pocket on the inside and a small place for a cell phone (and large enough to hold my Blackberry, though I will use it to hold my business cards, train pass, and lip gloss). And the funnest part is that the inside is lined in a very cheery yellow. The zipper was a little stiff when I got it, but I rubbed a little bit of clear lip balm on it and worked it into the zipper's teeth. Now it's a lot easier to open, but not too loose. Success!

The leggings I ordered, however, did not work out so well. They just didn't fit me. They were too long and very snug. Not so flattering or comfortable. I need to continue my search for these.

I love my North Face jacket. It's cut great and is real flattering. And did I mention soft and warm? Yes, very nice. I will get a lot of use out of it. Bonus - it can be zipped into my North Face ski jacket.

Everyone's Irish today! Celebrate!

I've already had two corned beef and cabbage meals, so I'm good there. I'll be spending the evening with my parents for what I hear will be a ham meal. Not very Irish, but hey - I'm wearing green!

I'm not one for green beer, but I am for the Irish Cream Cheesecakes - Bailey's Chocolate Chunk - they have at The Confectional (a seasonal item). For the more adventurous, they also have a Guinness Cheesecake Truffle. I've never had Guinness, but I'd be willing to try it. I'm going to try to stop by tonight on the way home.

Another St. Patty's fave, the Shamrock Shake is something that I indulge in on occasion. Something about it just screams Spring!

Or for something hot, how about an Irish Cream Latte. Yum, indeed. Also good year round.

I heard it on NPR - An Irish Feast by Nigella Lawson, including the "Emerald Isle" - a minty martini.

Did you see Nordstrom's recent Spring catalog?

I'm so loving all the florals and colors. But most notably, the Kate Spade jewelry is fabulous! I love that it's so classic, yet very fresh. And the muted colors will ensure that these pieces can be worn for many years. You know, if I actually owned them, which I don't. But alas a girl can fantasize.

Another trend, if you call it that, that I'm loving is polka dots. I've already professed my love for the sweet little dots and already have a few polka-dotted pieces. But to see that there are some new items coming out makes me excited.

A funny thing happened while I was on maternity leave...

All I wanted to do was hook up my answering machine in my office. But I have my fax machine set up in there. So I had to route the answering machine with the fax machine. Well, it wasn't working out as I had planned. I probably had the manual somewhere, but looking it up online would be easier. And I'm all about easy.

When I looked up my fax, here's what I got: A recall notice.

Yes, my fax machine was recalled. I must not have registered it, because this was the first I heard about it and the recall happened sometime in 2008 or 2009. Good thing nothing happened with my machine and it seemed like the problem was really rare, like 3 occurrences of the power cord failing or something like that.

What that meant for me was I got to buy myself a replacement and HP would send me a check, depending on what I bought. Mind you, I was limited in what my replacement options were, so I couldn't go crazy.

Remember way back when I wrote about wanting an all-in-one? Well, the HP Officejet J3680 was the all-in-one that I could buy as part of the recall. So, I got my all-in-one and freed up a bunch of desktop space, and I only had to pay a little bit of sales tax.

Here's pretty much how it went:
I filled out the claim form on HP.com.
They sent me some paperwork and padded envelopes.
I bought my new all-in-one at Office Depot.com for $89.99 plus tax and free shipping (and used Bing.com for cash back!)
I sent HP the filled out paperwork and a part that I had to remove from my old fax machine, rendering it useless.
They sent me a check for $90.00.

So, happy happy. I got what I wanted, though not exactly what I preferred (I wanted a flatbed scanner). But I cannot complain much since I didn't have to spend hardly anything. And it works great!
